What Inspires You?

What Inspires You?

  • Do you make the effort to fill your soul with uplifting art, music and literature?
  • Do you love positive mantras, quotes and affirmations?
  • Do you have something brilliant and inspirational to say?

If you answered “Yes”, “Absolutely” or “Hell Yeah Sista”” to any of these questions, I’d love to hear from you!

I decided to open the Giggle On Gates for you to share your favorite quote here at Giggle On. It doesn’t matter if it was written and uttered by you personally or by your favorite philosopher, comedian, sage, leader, songwriter, band, mystic or cartoon character.

I am drawn to quotes, songs and art about smiling, laughing, merry-making and perseverance.  These qualities make up the DNA of the Giggle On philosophy.

I make a conscious effort to bathe in an alphabet soup of positivity at every opportunity.

Do you?

What inspires YOU to look at life through a positive lens?

Getting Inspired with a Little Help From My Friends

In addition to the heavy hitters philosophers like Buddha, Mother Teresa and Osho, I also draw inspiration from my friends.

This post is dedicated to my Austin, Texas friend, Gregory Truett Smith (above), who shared this original quote on this Facebook wall recently.

There ain’t nothin like meeting an impossible deadline successfully & being all strung-out from it, laughing, being all giddy & such! ~GT Smith

Greg is an artist, illustrator, graphic designer and head Benevolent Badass of Splendid Rocket Studios.  I admire him for his artistic ability but also because he has been living the “Giggle On” lifestyle way before I even heard the term from our mutual and departed friend Jim Sims.

Greg perseveres. He knows how to have fun. He makes the most out of the life God gave him. Greg makes me feel good about being me and I love him for it! Simply, GREG ROCKS…and his art rocks (proof positive below).

Be Inspired!

  1. I’m inspired daily by something my childhood friend, lost to suicide last April, said after not seeing me for over 16 years:
“I like you more now ~ who you’ve become ~ even more than I did then.” That puts a smile on my face every day.

  2. Ohhhh, I’m loving this post!
I’m inspired by so many things every single day, including you and your tireless efforts with everything you’re doing, Giggs!
Right now, I’m finding that I’m very inspired by those who face adversity head-on and just keep going. I think some call that “unflappable”. Strength and endurance of character in tough times. Of course, one of these beings is my dog, who seems to wake up each day struggling with something new right now. Her legs are currently just giving out from under her as she’s walking. But she just gets herself up, and keeps on walking. Although I understand the difference between “dogs” and “humans” I really wish we all could be more like that…it just is what it is, and we just need to keep on walking…because somewhere there’s a cookie with our name on it, just sitting there waiting for us to gnosh, gnosh, gnosh!
Thanks for this opportunity to share, Dude! GIGGLE ON, y’ALL!!! YOU ROCK! …and G says “WOOF!!” (she’s busy sleeping right now)…

  3. hey Christa~ his name was John Michael Tyler. We met when we were 13 & in the 8th grade, and shared a deep bond of friendship throughout our lives even though there were years when we were out of touch. and i have to agree with Annie ~ you and Giggle On rock, absolutely.

  4. @Annie – dogs are an inspiration and we’re sending lots of giggly healing energy to Miss G. Love you girl!

@Karal – thanks for sharing your friend’s name, thanks for the compliment too. If you have any interest being a part of the Survivors Series (Annie was the first one to participate – see, let me know. I have found sharing my feelings about my losses has really helped me heal and move back into my own giggle.

@Y if for Yogini – that’s for stopping by girl! Om for Osho. He ROCKS the spiritual laughter Casbah, doesn’t he now? Got any favorite quotes or mantras? I know you must 🙂

  5. Hi Christa!

I am inspired by people overcoming obstacles like the homeless man who is now on radio! I love the beauty of nature, music and art. They lift my spirits when things gets me down.

I collect favorite quotes. Here are a few:

Love the moment, and the energy of that moment will spread beyond all boundaries.
    ~Corita Kent

Happiness is as a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which if you just sit down quietly, may alight upon you.
    ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.
    ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

A child’s laughter is one of my favorite sounds. Sunsets are one of my favorite sights. And summer breezes on my face is one of my favorite touches. I love life in all of it’s depth, bitter or sweet—I choose to live it all!

    In Joy, Love & Laughter,

    • @Linda – I just added the quotes you forwarded to my collection and, most especially, your personal quote at the end. It made me smile. Thanks so much for stopping by to share your love and light with me. I’ll never forget the day you came up to me in the Lone Eagle Grill in Lake Tahoe (I used to work at that location a decade ago) and started a conversation with me. You were a breath of fresh air. 😀 I am honored to know you! Namaste!
