Just Put Yourself Out There

BE YOURSELF IS ALL THAT YOU CAN DO

Opening up, sharing and being ourselves is sometimes a hard thing to do. Sometimes it seems impossible. We delve into our inner world, tap into feelings and try to express them to others.

Sometimes we open up completely and let all the mush and gush inside us spill out. Other times we hide parts of ourselves in little boxes, you know, the parts we don’t want others to see. We hide behind this or that because we are scared people will judge us, reject us and not love us.

DID I JUST SCARE THE CRAP OUTTA YOU?

Sometimes I think I say too much – go into too much detail and scare the crap out of people. And then there are times when I can’t manage to formulate a solid thought and want to be left alone.

All we can do is be ourselves. I say, “Just put yourself out there.” Be yourself. Is this always easy? Uh, no! But, we can only grow if we take a chance. Doing what we always have done gets us what we’ve always gotten (or at least that’s what I’ve heard.)

Am I scared? Sure. I get scared but I try my best not to let fear take hold and paralyze me. Fear might knock me over but I will get back up. I am like a Weeble like that. I wobble but don’t fall down. *If you don’t know what a Weeble is you must be under the age of 30. Try Googling it.*

Am I confused about which direction I should take in life? Yes. I have an idea where I’m going and what I want but I often get bogged down in the details.

New direction – here I come!!! Details-schmee-tails.

Don’t Give Up! Giggle On!

A good joke: One dark day on farmer Smith’s land, a terrible F-3 force tornado blew through his property. Farmer Smith and his frightened family promptly barricaded themselves in the storm cellar and hoped their animals would be able to withstand the mighty blast descending upon them. After a half hour of terrifying, howling winds and flying debris, Farmer Smith tentatively emerged from the cellar to survey the damage. It was bad. Although his home was still standing, the barn had been completely destroyed. He saw all the animals scattered and strewn all over his land. With one exception. A small group of bulls was still standing and apparently hadn’t moved from their pre-storm locations. Farmer Smith was puzzled, so he approached the largest bull and asked him. “How come all them other animals is layin’ scattered all willy-nilly-like all over my farm, but you bulls is still on yer feet?” The bull looked Farmer Smith square in the eye and said “Didn’t you know? We bulls wobble, but we don’t fall down.” True story.
